Aston Villa make £5m bid for Reading's Aaron Tshibola
Villa are hopeful of signing Reading midfielder Aaron Tshibola after making a £5million bid.
The talented 21-year-old burst onto the scene last season while playing under newly-appointed Villa assistant Steve Clarke.
Now at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war, Norwich have seen an offer rejected for the youngster while Crystal Palace and Celtic are also keen.
But Roberto Di Matteo is confident of enticing the youngster to Villa Park.
Should he sign, Tshibola looks set to line-up alongside Jores Okore who is keen to stay at the club following the appointment of Di Matteo.
The 23-year-old spent the final weeks of last season training with the under-21s after falling out with caretaker manager Eric Black.
Okore has 12 months left on his contract and is believed to have a number of clubs chasing his signature.
But his agent Nikola Juric revealed the centre-back is keen to work with Di Matteo – who previously tried to sign him while he was in charge of Chelsea.
"Of course – that is the idea," Juric said when asked if Okore wanted to remain at Villa. "Di Matteo would have liked Jores when he was manager at Chelsea while Jores was in FC Nordsjælland.
"We have since had a small talk with the club and it was positive. Now is the scenario is so – that he is at Aston Villa (this season)."
