Callum Robinson leaves Villa for Preston
Striker Callum Robinson has severed his ties with Aston Villa after joining Championship cohorts Preston North End for a third spell at Deepdale.
The 21-year-old has signed a three-year contract after turning down a new deal with Villa, where he's been playing his football since the age of eight.
Preston have agreed a training compensation fee with Villa, who are entitled to a pay out because of the player's age. He finished last season on loan there.
The England Under-20 international was a part of the North End squad that won promotion from League One in 2014-15, over two separate stints.
He first joined from September to November 2014 before being recalled by Villa, Preston borrowing him again on transfer deadline day for the rest of the season.
Robinson joined Bristol City on a season-long deal a year ago but failed to make an impact, with no goals in six appearances having not featured for the Robins from October to January.
He returned to Preston and made another 14 appearances, scoring twice, with his future up in the air from the season's end as Villa were relegated from the Premier League.
He commented: "I'm really happy to get the deal done. I've had a few loans here and I've really enjoyed my time with the lads and the coaching staff, as I have said before.
"It was obviously a big decision for me leaving Aston Villa, I've been there since I was eight years old.
"So it was a big one for me but if there was ever a club for me to settle down with and sign permanently with it would be Preston North End.
"It's time to really give it a go and work hard on and off the pitch. I think I've still got a lot to work on to get stronger and bigger and work on my body a little bit more.
"I've already thought about this stuff and I can only build and get better playing with the lads that we've got in the changing room here. I think the only way is up for me."
