Tony Morley: Villa flops won't find better

Legend Tony Morley has warned Aston Villa's Premier League flops "you'll never find a better club than this."

Morley, a key member of Villa's League and European Cup-winning team of the 1980s, believes some of the club's experienced players simply haven't been committed enough this season.

Villa are on the brink of their first relegation since 1987 and last night confirmed they are looking for voluntary redundancies, with about 50 staff thought to be facing losing their jobs.

Morley believes players who think they can simply walk away to pastures new in the summer might be in for a surprise.

He said: "Some of the experienced players have got to look at themselves this season and say, 'have I done enough for this club?'

"No matter what they say, the truth is they have not done enough.

"Some of these players will be leaving but they will not get a better club than this one."

Relegation could be mathematically confirmed, before Villa kick off at Manchester United on Saturday.

Morley is keen for caretaker boss Eric Black to give some of the club's younger players a chance between now and the end of the season.

But he believes he should wait until after the trip to Old Trafford, adding: "It is not the place to go and put young kids in."
