Mervyn King casts new doubt over Remi Garde future
Fresh doubt has been cast over the future of Villa boss Remi Garde with new club director Mervyn King questioning: "Does Remi Garde want to stay?"
Former Bank of England governor King said the club is currently carrying out a wide-ranging inquiry into the disastrous state of affairs that has left them odds-on for relegation.
And King , asked if Garde will be in charge next season, answered: "I think the question is; does Remi want to stay?"
He added: "We are carrying out a review both on the administration and the team at Villa Park and also on the playing side and the scouting and coaching side at Bodymoor Heath.
"We are reviewing every aspect of the club and in due course, not after too long I hope, we will have some announcements to make."
King's comments come as Garde, who won the French league title with Lyon, was linked with a possible move to take over as technical director of the French Football Federation.
There have been a number of reports suggesting current chief executive Tom Fox, recruitment chief Paddy Riley and sporting director Hendrik Almstadt all face the boot in the review ordered by new chairman Steve Hollis.
