Time out gives Villa a chance to re-assess

But, on a serious note, the week off has given us fans time to digest where we are.

It has to start at the top, so with owner Randy Lerner giving power to new chairman Steve Hollis it's time for him to show us that it's not just token power and that he truly has got the final say.

I really hope that Mr Hollis starts his search for answers to why it has gone so badly wrong at the top.

I'd start with chief executive Tom Fox, ever since that man entered into villa park we have been on a steady decline and it can't be a coincidence.

While we are there, I hope sporting director Hendrik Almstadt and director of recruitment Paddy Reilly are starting to look over there shoulders.

I do think it would send out a strong message if these men were bought to task on there part in the fiasco that is Villa this season.

If needs be, they should given there marching orders and I don't think you would see any protests to get them reinstated if that happened.

Then - and only then - can we start to plot our way back to the Premier League should the almost inevitable relegation happen at the end of the season.
