Aston Villa just need to keep on winning

We're now into the real make-or-break period for our season where only wins will do.

I've almost forgotten what's it's like to have a two-goal lead in a game. I'm not complaining though – the last 2-0 lead we had in the league ended in disaster at Leicester.

So it was lovely to see a game out relatively comfortably.

One of the most pleasing factors of our upturn in form is the way the back four have played.

Moving Micah Richards to right-back has worked, as has bringing goalkeeper Mark Bunn in alongside a very good central defensive partnership between Joleon Lescott and Jores Okore.

Add to that the seamless reintroduction of Aly Cissokho and it has has given us the solid foundation to believe that if we can score then we have a good chance of getting a result now.

Maybe not signing anyone in January has created a siege mentality in the squad, an us-against-the-rest thinking.

Looking at the Norwich City game on Saturday, you would hardly say the £25 million they spent at Carrow Road has done them much good.

One thing I do know is that to have any chance of a miracle end of season, we must all stick together.

It looks like whatever went on between Gabby Agbonlahor and manager Remi Garde has been sorted and a fully fit and fired up Gabby is now imperative to our chances.

We need to see the best that we have ever seen from him, and Saturday was a very good start.

I also have a feeling once back from his suspension that Jordan Ayew will be chomping at the bit to make up for his red card. A front line of those two could really be something to behold in the coming weeks.
