Villa manager Remi Garde was today making a last-ditch bid to shore up his leaky defence before the transfer window closes tonight.

Garde is still trying to tie up at least one deal and has been chasing Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy.
Saturday's 4-0 FA Cup home hiding at the hands of Manchester City underlined the size of Garde's task as he tries to mastermind Premier League survival.
"I still have hope that I will sign one player," said Garde.
