Villa target Debuchy may stay at Arsenal
Aston Villa target Mathieu Debuchy looks set to stay at Arsenal after Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce cast fresh doubt on the full-back's release.
The Black Cats were vying with Villa for the Frenchman's signature this January, with a loan signing the most likely outcome.
Debuchy preferred a move to Sunderland because of their superior league position and the former Newcastle player had been in the North-East before.
However, Allardyce suggested that neither club would be willing to prise the 30-year-old away from North London.
The Sunderland boss, evidently frustrated by the lack of movement, said: "I'm not sure he really wants to leave Arsenal, or that Arsene Wenger (manager) would let him go."
Meanwhile, two Villa forwards have been named in the Premier League's top 10 most injured players since 2013.
Gabby Agbonlahor was fifth in the list with 579 days on the sidelines in just over three years thanks to 20 separate injuries. Only Jack Wilshere picked up more knocks with 21.
Libor Kozak was seventh on the list with 555 days out, but he was the player who spent most time on the treatment table with one particular injury.
The Czech striker spent 494 days out, with the broken leg he suffered in training under a challenge from Ciaran Clark.
