Albion derby coming at a Rudy good time

Striker Rudy Gestede believes tomorrow's derby date with Albion couldn't be coming at a better time for his Villa side.

Despite languishing at the bottom of the Premier League, Remi Garde's team have enjoyed a recent upturn in fortunes and are unbeaten in their last four outings.

Still favourites for the drop, Villa make the short trip to The Hawthorns tomorrow, looking to finally give their fans something worth celebrating this season.

Gestede has already scored in one derby after netting the winner in the Capital One Cup win over Birmingham City in September.

Now the striker is looking to repeat his derby heroics and has warned Albion they will face a side filled with renewed belief.

"I think this game is coming at a good time – we have confidence," Gestede said.

"They beat us at home. Now we're eager to beat them away – and get the three points and keep our run going.

"These derby matches are important games for the fans and for the club. We know that."

Gestede added: "Tony Pulis teams are always tough to beat and at home they are doing quite well.

"But we are not afraid of them and we are now getting points and improving bit by bit. We are on the way up.

"We are focused and know how important this is."

Despite their form this season, Gestede believes Villa shouldn't be sitting at the bottom of the Premier League and insists there is still time for them to pull off a great escape.

"Now we are getting points – our confidence and belief is getting stronger and stronger," he said.

"We have got quality in the team, we are not in our league position because of a lack of quality. The league is tough. If you lose concentration for just a short time you can concede goals. But now we look more tough to beat. We knew before this run that we were capable of winning games.

"Now it is fact so we have to keep going.

"We are still far off from staying in the Premier League but we believe in ourselves and will carry on.

"There are plenty of games still to play and plenty of points still to get."

The forward is also hoping his strike against Leicester will spark a prolific spell in front of goal. I'm a striker and I am there to score goals," he said.

"Hopefully now more are coming. It didn't happen for me for a long time but I was scoring goals before I came here. Football is like that, sometimes you go through good spells and sometimes you go through tougher spells. But you just have to keep believing in yourself, if you do the goals will come again."
