Remi Garde feared for family after Paris attacks
Frenchman Remi Garde has revealed the Paris terror attacks left the Aston Villa manager scared for his family's whereabouts.
Garde's daughter was in Paris at the time, although a phone-call confirmed her safety shortly afterwards.
Speaking ahead of Villa's trip to Everton on Saturday, Garde also paid tribute to the way England and France handled Tuesday's friendly at Wembley.
He said: "What I saw at Wembley was for me and for all the French people a very good thing. We needed that. I have some family in Paris and I was very scared myself.
"I heard the game on the radio in a taxi and they said there was an explosion outside.
"When I came back home and learned that my daughter was in Paris for a week, I was scared for a little bit until I had her on the phone.
"When you know your family is safe, it's one thing. When you saw everything that happened and that we are still affected, it's such a nightmare."
There is a strong French contingent in Villa's squad. Garde spoke to the players about Paris, but insisted everyone is now focused again on football.
He added: "You have to carry on and live and do your job. We have to forget that. You have to go on the pitch and play and give the best you can.
"We had a little chat with the players. We had a minute silence which was important. Now we're focused."
