Fabian Delph could leave Villa for £8m
Villa could lose skipper and player of the year Fabian Delph for a knockdown price this summer.
Reports suggest Delph, who signed a new four-and-a-half year deal at Villa Park midway through last season, had a release fee clause inserted into the deal.
That is understood to be somewhere in the region of £8m-10m.
Manchester City have been linked with the midfielder who has also become a fixture in the England side under Roy Hodgson.
It was reported that Delph agreed the clause with Villa owner Randy Lerner as part of the negotiations over his new deal.
It is understood the clause relates only to clubs who are involved in European competition and that would include both City and Liverpool, who have both been admirers of the tough-tackling 25-year-old.
Meanwhile, Villa have been linked with Tottenham's young defender Milos Veljkovic.
Boss Tim Sherwood is believed to be interested in a loan deal for the 19-year-old, who won the under-20 World Cup with Serbia last month. Sherwood worked with the promising youngster at Spurs and needs cover at centre-back with Ron Vlaar looking increasingly likely to move away.
