The former Tottenham manager has already gone on record to say he wants to rid the club of its "losing mentality," with Villa having battled relegation for the last four seasons.

Sherwood believes working with the players in the non-pressurised environment of pre-season will allow him to truly put his stamp on the club. And Sinclair can't wait to get started, saying: "When the gaffer came in, he put his stamp on things but at the same time he had to ensure we were winning matches to keep us in the Premier League.

"Usually you have pre-season to get your ideas across but now he can work with us to prepare for the new season.

"Tim has been great since he's walked in the door. The first thing I noticed was that he upped the intensity of training. He definitely lifted things.

"They key with the gaffer is that he knows exactly what he wants from his players. It's then up to his players to produce.

"He's very precise with his instructions – there's no grey areas – he tells you what he expects and if you do that, he's happy.

"I am sure he will be getting his points across to all his players when we come back to pre-season. Then it's up to us to deliver when the new season starts."

On a personal level, Sinclair has promised to hit the ground running at the start of the 2015/16 campaign after completing his permanent move from Manchester City.

He added: "I will come back fit and firing and ready to go. I am thrilled to be here at Villa permanently."

Tom Cleverley who is thought to have turned down a permanent move to Villa Park in favour of a switch to Everton.

Sherwood had hoped to turn the 25-year-old's loan move from Manchester United into a full transfer, but it's now believed he will complete a move to Goodison Park over the weekend.
