Aston Villa complete the signing of Carles Gil
Aston Villa today completed the long-term signing of Spanish under-21 midfielder Carles Gil from Valencia.
The 22-year-old has signed four-and-a-half year contract at Villa Park in a deal believed to be worth £3.2million.
Manager Paul Lambert is hoping Gil can give Villa the creative spark they have been so desperately lacking this season.
Villa have failed to score in any of their last four games and have netted just 11 games in the Premier League all season.
Lambert said: "We've been on the lookout for a creative player and he will certainly bring that extra element to the side.
"He's only 22 years of age but he will come here and give us something I don't think we have at the moment. He can play either role, coming in off the sides or playing in behind as well.
"He can create chances and get those chances put away. He has a lot to offer and I know we can get the best out of him."
