The Dutchman's performances at the summer's sparked continued speculation over his future, with Arsenal and Manchester United said to be ready to pounce.
But reports suggest the Villa board will offer an improved contract, with his current deal running out in the summer.
Vlaar joined Villa from Feyenoord for £3million two years ago.
