Villa's Callum Robinson in the shop window
Aston Villa striker Callum Robinson is hoping to put himself in the shop window on his England under-20 debut at AFC Telford United.
The teenager's first opportunity to play for the age group comes at the New Bucks Head tonight, the game against Romania boss Aidy Boothroyd's first in charge.
The 19-year-old Northampton lad, who is based in Sutton Coldfield, made his Villa debut in the Capital One Cup last season and made another four Premier League appearances.
But Robinson has yet to feature for Paul Lambert's side this season and is hoping to impress his club manager - along with the scouts in attendance for a potential loan move.
He said: "I have got a long way to go and it's all about developing in my career right now. I am sure the gaffer at Villa will have someone there and it's all about catching people's eye.
"I have scored for England in every group so far apart from the under-18s, because I was injured. Hopefully, I will able to get a goal for the under-20s tonight.
"If I can start performing for them regularly, I might be able to get up to the under-21s next year or maybe even later this season. You have always got to aim high.
"I want to break through with my club, too, and I know Paul Lambert has got faith in me. I am still young and I just need to keep working hard.
"I wouldn't have expected to make my debut last season, so you never know in football. I haven't been out on loan yet, either, to get some more experience.
"My short-term goal is to get more appearances under my belt, whether that's for Villa or someone else. There are teams interested."
Robinson and the England squad have been training at St George's Park, the Football Association's national centre near Burton-on-Trent, all week.
They watched together as their former team-mate Calum Chambers, who was playing for the under-19s as recently as March, made his debut for the national team against Norway on Wednesday.
Robinson said: "We met up on Sunday, so we have been at St George's Park all week preparing for the game. The boys are ready, so we want to go out and enjoy every minute of it and get the win.
"I grew up with Calum and we came through the ranks together, so to see him get a full international cap was really good. We watched the game in our rooms and were buzzing for him."
Robinson has experience of Telford, having featured for Villa's under-21 side there last season against their Wolves counterparts, who use their ground for second-string fixtures.
He said: "We won 2-0 that night, so the same again would be good! It's a nice ground and a good place to play."
