Villa's Christian Benteke on road to recovery
Striker Christian Benteke has handed Aston Villa a huge boost as the injured star took another step on the road to recovery.
The 23-year-old, out of action since rupturing his Achilles in April, took part in light training during the club's pre-season tour of Texas.
Benteke still has a long way to go in his recovery but the sight of the Belgium ace on the field at the Dallas Stadium will come as welcome news to supporters in what has been a difficult summer for the claret and blues.
In a further boost to manager Paul Lambert, Benteke's strike partner Libor Kozak also continued his comeback from a broken leg.
Meanwhile, midfielder Fabian Delph has told supporters he is ready to sign a new deal at Villa Park.
The 24-year-old is entering the final year of his current contract but discussions over a fresh one were put on hold following owner Randy Lerner's decision to put the club up for sale.
Delph was on a panel of players who, along with manager Paul Lambert, talked with supporters at a meet-and-greet session ahead of training. When asked to clarify his future by fans, the former Leeds ace said he was hopeful of signing a new deal.
