Aston Villa were today closing in on Swansea midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung as midfielder Fabian Delph was linked with West Ham.

South Korea midfielder Ki has reportedly held talks, with manager Paul Lambert hoping to complete a deal this week.

Ki impressed on loan at Sunderland last season, helping them avoid the drop from the Premier League.

He made 41 appearances for the Swans after signing from Celtic in 2012 and would become Villa's first cash signing of the summer, if a deal can be agreed.

The move comes as West Ham were linked with a £5million move for Player of the Season Delph, who has just one year left on his contract.

Meanwhile, winger Kieran Richardson has revealed his debt to Roy Keane in helping him turn his career around at Sunderland.

The Villa new-boy, who signed a two-year contract on Friday, believes Keane is responsible for reviving him.

Richardson said: "That season when I signed for Sunderland I think I only played 10 games, because I had a hairline fracture in my spine.

"He inspired me to go away in the summer and come back in better shape than I had ever been in."
