The striker was today sold for an undisclosed amount but the Millers today said the fee had broken their transfer record – previously £150,000 they paid Peterborough for Lee Frecklington in January 2013.

Rotherham gained promotion to the Championship with a penalty victory over Leyton orient in the League One play-off final at Wembley in May.

The former Chesterfield youngster spent part of the season on loan at Doncaster Rovers but made only three appearances.
