No panic at Aston Villa as Brad Guzan calls for cool heads
Brad Guzan today refused to hit the panic button with Villa's Premier League future still in the balance.
The keeper has called for calm despite the claret and blues' alarming finish to the season. They are five points above the Premier League's drop zone after a five-game winless run ahead of the final four matches.
But with Villa going to Swansea on Saturday, Guzan insisted it is time for the team to keep their cool.
"It's not about panic. It's about getting over this little bump in the road," he said. "These games are difficult and it's a matter of fine lines separating three points from zero or one. We have to keep going or fighting and we will.
"It's all in our hands so if we do what we're capable of doing we'll get the results we need to continue to push us up the table. It won't be an issue. There's always outside pressure to continue to win."
A 0-0 draw with Southampton at the weekend ended a run of four straight defeats and Guzan
said: "There is no guarantee, you have to fight week in week out. You can't just turn up and expect to win a game. For us you have to put the performance in to earn the right to win a game.
"That's what we have to do and we have to win."
