Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert backs under-fire David Moyes
Paul Lambert today threw his weight behind under-fire David Moyes and claimed criticism of the Manchester United boss has been "over the top".
Moyes' position at Old Trafford is coming under severe scrutiny ahead of tomorrow's visit of Lambert's Villa.
"I don't think Manchester United as a football club and an organisation will be panicked into doing anything," said Lambert. "The furore is outside the club. I wouldexpect him to be at Manchester United for a while."
Arrangements have been made for a flypast with the message "Wrong One – Moyes Out" – in response to the "Chosen One" banner which has hung on the Stretford End since the 50-year-old was appointed Sir Alex Ferguson's successor. Lambert described the idea as "a bit extreme".
"If it was myself, it would not be nice to see," he said. "Some of the criticism is way over the top."
