Ron Vlaar targets more home wins for Aston Villa
Ron Vlaar today warned Villa they must continue to be DIY experts bid for more home improvement.
The skipper urged the claret and blues to target a home hat-trick against Stoke on Sunday but insisted they cannot expect any help.
Villa have won their last two home games to ease any relegation fears and will consolidate a top 10 place if they beat the Potters.
"The home record this season wasn't too good. But we won the last two and also beat West Brom at home so it's starting to look like something," said the skipper.
"To win your home games is so important. You cannot win every game but if you can choose between winning at home and winning away then winning at home is better because more fans are behind you.
"The spirit is getting better from there. Of course you need results away as well, but we've started performing at home like we should and what I think we're capable of. We beat Chelsea and we beat Manchester City at home as well, so it's going in the right direction.
"We have to realise we're not there yet but a win against Chelsea, who are on top of the table, a the moment is a great boost for the team and the way we performed was really good. We have to build on that and we have to focus and believe in ourselves that we can do it every game.
"The work ethic, that's where it all starts. Of course you cannot play every game as well as a you hope or think but you have to earn the right to win and get points."
