"We've done it before, we can do it again": Paul Lambert hoping Aston Villa can knock Chelsea off their perch
Villa manager Paul Lambert sounded an up-beat battle cry to his players as they bid to bring back unhappy memories for Jose Mourinho.
The Chelsea boss is back at Villa Park for the first time since defeat in 2007 signalled the end of his first stay at Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho is back in familiar territory at the top of the table but, buoyed by their performance against Chelsea in the first week of the season and their 4-1 thrashing of Norwich City, Lambert is convinced he has the weaponry to "hurt" the title favourites.
"It's a game I'm really looking forward to," said a manager sometimes accused of presenting a dour front.
"It's a great game to play in. They're going for the title and for the Champions League, so they're going for big trophies and we have to try to stop it or try to derail it, for ourselves as well.
"We know we can hurt them because we've done it before. There will be a great atmosphere.
"There's not many times when people don't expect anything from you but everybody will think we'll get turned over.
"But I also know we can hurt them and I think Chelsea do as well after the last game."
Villa must tackle Mourinho's side without on-loan Chelsea left back Ryan Bertrand. Joe Bennett is set to step in.
