Fabian Delph in line for new Aston Villa deal

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert today confirmed Fabian Delph can expect a new contract in the summer – as he failed to make any deadline day signings.

Midfielder Delph has impressed for the claret and blues this season and been linked with an England call.

And Lambert revealed he will hold talks with Delph in the summer about extending his current deal, which expires in 2015.

"There's too much football to play before we talk contracts," said Lambert.

"I'm a great believer that all these things take care of themselves. Once we get to the end of the season we will sit down."

Villa called off their pursuit of Norwich's Wes Hoolahan yesterday after having three bids rejected.
