Charles N'Zogbia: Aston Villa can't be like Barca

Midfielder Charles N'Zogbia today told supporters it's unfair to expect Aston Villa to be "like Barcelona" after the upheaval there has been at the club.

Villa boss Paul Lambert spent in the region of £23m last summer as he overhauled the squad and showed a number of the old guard the exit door in favour of players without Premier League experience.

The claret and blues are currently in the relegation zone ahead of crunch back-to-back fixtures against fellow strugglers Reading and QPR.

And Frenchman N'Zogbia urged patience as Villa bid to beat the drop with 10 games of the season left to play.

He said: "It is hard when you try to bring in a new team to do it from the start. If you do it straight away everyone is happy, but it takes time to build a team.

"Even when you see a team like Barcelona, they have been working together over many years. It is not easy when you bring in so many new players.

"It depends as well on the mentality of the players and it takes time to get to know each other.

"We know each other well now at this stage of the season, we know we can rely on one another and we know that together we can win. This is important."
