Simon Dawkins shocked at the plight of Aston Villa
Loanee Simon Dawkins today revealed his shock at Aston Villa's current struggles near the bottom of the Premier League given the quality of the players at the club.
The attacking midfielder has been at Villa for a fortnight having joined until the end of the season from Tottenham on transfer deadline day.
And Dawkins, who made his debut in the win over West Ham, has been baffled by the fact Paul Lambert's side are involved in a relegation scrap based on what he has seen in training every day.
"It's a hard situation to come into when the team has been struggling, but with the players that we have here we should never be struggling," said Dawkins.
"I've just been here for a couple of weeks and I've seen the quality. The position in the league doesn't reflect the talent that we have in the team.
"I'm sure every guy in there has the ability and the belief that they can get out of it.
"The gaffer's ideas are really good.
"He's shown what he can do already, but hopefully he can get some time to show what he can do at Villa."
