Villa midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker has revealed he is a target for clubs playing in the Champions League with Borussia Dortmund leading the race for his signature.
The tough-tackling midfielder is out of contract in the summer and the German side have contacted Reo-Coker's agent to hold preliminary discussions about a possible Bosman move.
Dortmund have already been crowned Bundesliga champions and will make a lucrative return to European football's premier competition next season.
The club are also seeking midfield reinforcements having agreed to sell Nuri Sahin to Real Madrid in the summer and Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp is thought to be keen to bring in Reo-Coker.
Galatasaray are also interested but are currently languishing in mid-table in the Turkish top-flight and Reo-Coker insisted any potential move is not motivated by money.
He said: "For me again it has to be the right footballing decision. It has never been financial for me.
"I am going to be 27 next week and it is about playing football. There has been interest from foreign clubs and most of the clubs are playing in the Champions League.
"That is something you would like to participate in and I am a footballer wanting to play at the highest level.
"You want to play in the biggest competitions and achieve things in your career. I am not a footballer for the show of just being a footballer.
"I am serious about my profession and about what I want to achieve. It is not going to be an easy decision.
"You have to look at all the options and make a decision on what you believe is right for yourself."
It is still not out of the question that Reo-Coker will remain with Villa and the former England under-21 captain admitted he has enjoyed playing regularly under Gerard Houllier.
He said: "It is nice to play consistently in the team. It is going to be a difficult decision but you have to do what is best for your career and your family."
