Staffs are through to Unicorns Trophy second round

Staffordshire progressed to the Unicorns Trophy second round with a 58-run win over Hertfordshire at Bishop’s Stortford.

Tim Maxfield’s 82-ball 88 helped Staffordshire to 247 after openers Kadeer Ali and Sam Kelsall had laid solid foundations in a first-wicket partnership of 88.

Seamer Jigar Mehta took four wickets for Hertfordshire and former Essex all-rounder Tanveer Sikander followed up his three-wicket haul with 46 as Hertfordshire were kept in check by Staffordshire.
