Duo outpointed in CYP semi-finals

The West Midlands' interest in the Clubs for Young People amateur championships ended at the weekend.

At the national semi-final stage at the Havercroft & Ryhill Sports Centre in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, both Pleck ABC's Liam Etheridge and Wednesbury ABC's Dale Doody were eliminated.

On Saturday afternoon in the bantamweight division, Etheridge fought tooth and nail but ultimately was outpointed in a gallant effort against Ardwick ABC's Mark Leach.

On Sunday afternoon, light flyweight Doody - in action for the first time - was edged out by against Waleed Din, from the Sheffield Lane Top ABC, again on points.
