Birmingham could equal their best winning run since 1994 against Brighton with centre-back Steven Caldwell playing through the pain barrier.

Caldwell will play at St. Andrew's tomorrow against despite a broken nose sustained in an aerial clash with Wolves' on-loan forward Andy Keogh in the 1-0 midweek win over Leeds – Blues' sixth successive victory.

The 31-year-old former Wigan stopper has missed just one match in the Championship and Europe this season and has been part of a defence that has kept three successive clean sheets in the league.

And manager Chris Hughton believes Caldwell's consistency has been a key part of Blues' stability at the back.

Hughton said: "He's a character, a strong personality who wants to play and is very much a winner. This is a player who's played at a very good level and been involved with teams that have got promotion before.

"He certainly looks after himself very well. He trains every day and, importantly, he's generally always available."
