The on-loan Tottenham winger stormed out of the ground after finding out he wasn't in the matchday 18 to face Wolves on Sunday and didn't hang around for the 1-1 draw.
McLeish said: "He won't be the first one - it happens at every club.
"It's not something I will lose any sleep over. I understand players' disappointment."
The Blues boss suggested it wasn't the first time a player has stormed off.
He said: "The other guys who have left came back in for training the next day - they don't stay away forever.
Bentley has been among the substitutes for the five previous games.
The 26-year-old was fit for but the impressive form of Sebastian Larsson has meant McLeish has had no selection dilemmas on the right of midfield.
And the manager has also been boosted by assurances that goalkeeper Ben Foster will not seek a summer move, despite links with Arsenal and Tottenham.
