Blues star eyes Obafemi Martins link
Birmingham striker Cameron Jerome believes he can strike up a partnership with Blues newcomer Obafemi Martins that would make life a misery for defenders.
Birmingham striker Cameron Jerome believes he can strike up a partnership with Blues newcomer Obafemi Martins that would make life a misery for defenders.
Martins has finally been granted a Visa and the former Newcastle player is set to make his debut in Saturday's home clash with Stoke, after joining on loan from Russian club Rubin Kazan during the January transfer window.
And Jerome is hoping for the sort of link up with the new-boy that he enjoyed with another loanee, Christian Benitez, at St Andrew's last season.
He said: "We caused defences headaches, we terrorised defences.
"Martins is of that calibre, that explosive player, that jack in the box, and he can good for us."
Jerome also feels the Nigeria international will give Blues "an extra dimension" as they look to find the goal power which has proved elusive as they struggle against relegation this season.
He said: "Obafemi has played in the Premier League before and is an international player so he will add something different, a new dimension to our strike force.
"He is not one who has got to come in and find his feet in the Premier League. He knows how to play and, from what we have seen of him before at Newcastle, he seems to be a very explosive player.
"That is what we need at the moment. We need that extra dimension up front.
"Hopefully he can come in and settle quickly and we can make best use of him from now to the end of the season."
