Birmingham boss Alex McLeish wants a swift decision from Kenny Miller over a move as they prepare for the first leg of their Carling Cup semi-final against West Ham.
Blues have had an offer in the region of £700,000 accepted by Glasgow Rangers and Miller must decide whether to opt for a switch to St Andrew's or move to Italian side Fiorentina, who want him to replace the departed Adrian Mutu.
The 31-year-old former Wolves striker, who has scored 22 goals so far this season, has already played under McLeish for both Hibernian and the Scotland international side.
But, while the Blues boss is a big fan of Miller, the manager also wants to resolve the situation sooner rather than later to allow him the time to pursue other transfer targets.
And, for now, his team have the crunch first leg at Upton Park tonight to negotiate.
McLeish said: "We've talked to Kenny and his people, but he's got an attractive offer from Italy, so he's got big decisions to make.
"It's likely that we will look for a quick answer the next time we talk to his representatives.
"I still admire him as a player. This season I think he's matured into a great finisher.
"He's quick, he knows the game, and makes good runs."
