The 25-year-old, who won Olympic team bronze two years ago, is eyeing a Commonwealth Games medal haul in Glasgow this summer.

He missed the 2010 Games in Delhi to compete in the World Championships, which were held a week later, but picked up a team bronze in Melbourne in 2006.

And the Wednesfield star, who has a World Championships vault bronze and horizontal bar bronze from the European Championships, is eager to upgrade his medal collection to stop the jokes from his friends.

"My mates will always make a joke about it," said Thomas, who won European Championship team gold in 2012 and silver this year.

"It would be nice to get a different colour. You tend to find if you enjoy a competition you do better if you're more relaxed."

Thomas is joined by the returning Louis Smith, Sam Oldham, Max Whitlock and Nile Wilson.

He added:" It's not going to be like London but it's going to be fun to compete there. Louis is back in the team and we're looking forward to it."
