Aston Villa learn festive fixture schedule after Premier League decision

The fixtures have been released earlier than expected.

Villa have learned their festive fixture list after the Premier League agreed to announce the schedule early following talks with fan groups.

The move has been praised by the football supporters’ association (FSA), which was involved in consultation together with fan advisory boards at top-flight clubs.

Festive fixtures have typically not been announced until toward the end of October and supporters now have more time to plan and make travel arrangements.

Villa will kick-off the programme when they host Leeds United on Boxing Day at 12.30pm, with the match being broadcast live on TNT Sports.

Unai Emery’s men then entertain Liverpool in their final match of 2026 on Wednesday, December 30 (8.15pm), before visiting Bournemouth on Saturday, January 2 (5.30pm) and Everton on Tuesday, January 5 (7.30pm).

All three of those matches will be shown live on Sky Sports.

Every club has been granted at least 60 hours rest between matches.

A Premier League statement confirmed broadcast selections for November are due to be announced by the end of this month, with the rest of December’s schedule confirmed by the week of October 19.

An FSA statement read: “We’re pleased the Premier League has acknowledged our views on this and today’s announcement is a step in the right direction.

“It does make it easier for supporters of top-flight clubs to plan for the Christmas and New Year period.

“There are still further steps which could be made – moving forward the announcement of all November and December TV fixtures to align with the release of the Christmas and New Year fixtures would be massively welcomed by supporters of all top-flight clubs.

“This is the approach taken by the EFL and, while the Premier League has additional challenges relating to the European calendar, those games are now known.

“Nonetheless, today’s announcement is good news for supporters, and we will continue to work with the league on initiatives which will improve things for matchgoers.”
