Boxing ace Tyler Denny outlines next steps after British title defeat
Black Country boxing ace Tyler Denny declared he “will be back” after last weekend’s British title defeat to George Liddard.
The 34-year-old’s bid to win the Lonsdale belt ended in a unanimous points defeat despite a strong performance at London’s Copper Box Arena.
Denny had called the contest a “must-win” as he sought a result which would have propelled him back toward the big time.
Instead he now faces another period of rebuilding after the fourth defeat of his professional career.
The former European champion, who told the Express & Star before the fight he still has “plenty left in the tank”, posted a message on social media thanking his supporters for their backing.
He wrote: “Gutted to not get the result I was after but I gave it my all, big credit to George Liddard, a true champion.
“Thanks to Matchroom and DAZN Boxing for the opportunity.
“A massive thank you for all the support, from buying tickets to messages, nothing makes me prouder than representing the Black Country on the big stage. I’ll be back.”
Denny’s bout was the first of what promises to be a busy few months for the Midlands’ top fighters.
Wolverhampton’s Gully Powar will make his own bid for British title glory when he takes on Rhys Edwards for the featherweight crown on April 4.
