Monday’s stirring 2-2 draw at Brentford extended their unbeaten Premier League run to three matches but they still sit 12 points from safety with just seven matches to play.

January signing Armstrong, who netted his first goal for the club at the Gtech Stadium, is experiencing conflicting emotions with his return to the top flight almost certain to be a short one.

He said: “I have been buzzing. It is hard for us because being back in the Premier League, it is where everyone wants to play.

“I am coming up to my 100th game in the league and it will be a joy to get that.
