Non-league round-up: Halesowen bounce back from derby defeat
Halesowen Town bounced back from their No.9 derby defeat to Stourbridge as a Jason Cowley brace earned them a win at Stratford Town.
The prolific striker broke the deadlock in the 41st minute with his 30th goal in all competitions this season, when he brought down a ball over the top of the Stratford defence, rounded goalkeeper Jake Weaver, and fired into an empty net.
Cowley doubled his tally on the hour mark when he met a ball at the far post to head home, sealing an important Southern Central Premier win for the Yeltz and taking Cowley's league total to 25 goals.
It was a positive way for head coach Russ Penn to celebrate his 100th game in charge of Halesowen.
He said: "I think there was a lot of soul searching after Saturday's game.
"It's been a long slog of a season and we have 10 games to go and all over the park we were outstanding.
"The front three were on fire and we were very good in possession. We passed the ball, which is something we didn't do once on Saturday."
In the National League North, Kidderminster Harriers connivingly beat Peterborough Sports 4-0.
On a night they could easily have scored more, Harriers' first half pressure paid off when Ryley Reynolds fired into the top corner to open the scoring, before Seb Thompson drilled the ball home just before half-time to make it 2-0.
They added a third two minutes after the restart when Kieren Donnelly struck, before Amari Morgan-Smith arrived to finish from close range for the fourth and final goal.
In the Northern One West, Darlaston Town were beaten 1-0 at Kidsgrove Athletic.
That result leaves them in the relegation zone and seven points from safety, having played a game more than the teams above them.
