Brocton look to continue push for play-offs in crucial Midland Premier clash

Brocton boss Alex Curtis is geared up for a tough run-in as his side chase a Midland Premier League play-off spot.

The Badgers' five-game winning streak was ended with a midweek defeat at Winsford United.

They sit sixth, a point and a place behind the play-offs, ahead of a trip to fourth-placed play-off contenders Abbey Hulton United tomorrow.

Brocton finished just inside the play-offs in their first season at step five non-league football last year, and Curtis says it would be magnificent to achieve that feat again.

"If we could do it two years in a row with the resources we have got, it is massive testament to the players and everybody who works hard every week behind the scenes," he said.

"Am I confident? We have 10 games left, have got to play seven against the top-half, and hopefully we can take points off those teams in and around us.

"We have beat first and third, it doesn't get any easier for us over the next few games. I am confident with the form we are in, but you never know.

"We know we've got to play a lot of the teams who are in that top 10. We also know that everybody is playing each other, so there will be plenty of points dropped.

"Hopefully we can be one of the more consistent teams."

Their 4-0 defeat to Winsford midweek is an anomaly compared to their recent run, where Brocton kept four clean sheets in five league matches.

"We've stood really firm and that is something we have brought to our game this season," Curtis added.

"We are one of the teams who have conceded the lowest number of goals, which is pleasing. Hopefully we can keep the ball out of the net."
