The 35-year-old has joined the Baggies after three years in the same role at Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli Premier League.

Price, a former coach at Liverpool’s academy, will oversee the club’s academy, medical and sports science departments, while further developing strategies for squad planning, player pathways, football technology and football administration.

He will not oversee transfers, which is currently headed up by director of football operations, Ian Pearce, following the exit of president Andrew Nestor's exit last month.

Price, who began work at The Hawthorns this week, said: “I am delighted to be here, and I am grateful to (Albion owner) Shilen Patel and the club’s board for placing their trust in me.

“Together, we will focus on building strong foundations, driving standards, and supporting the continued development and progression of the club.

“This club is steeped in history and tradition and with that heritage comes significant responsibility, which is certainly not lost on me.

"I fully understand the importance of this role and will carry it out with the long-term interests and success of the club as my absolute priority.”

Price was released by Liverpool at the age of 16 and practiced law before resuming his career in football with the Reds.

After a two-year spell head of performance analysis at Blackpool, during which the club won promotion from League One, he returned to Anfield as first-team analyst for Jurgen Klopp before joining Maccabi in 2023.

Patel said: “I am pleased to welcome Dom to the club. I look forward to him contributing his perspective, practices, and enthusiasm to our efforts to continually improve.

“This is an important appointment for the football club and one I am confident will strengthen us both on and off the pitch in the years to come.”
