The 17-year-old striker joined from Metz in January but has been left in limbo due to Fifa regulations regarding the international transfer of teenagers.

Under those rules, Villa would not be able to complete Madjo’s registration until he turns 18 next January.Villa believe the forward, who was born in London before moving to Luxembourg, should be given special dispensation but their efforts to convince Fifa remain at an impasse.

Madjo, who has three senior international caps for Luxembourg, has been training with the club’s first-team but is currently unable to play for either them, or the youth sides.

Villa, meanwhile, are waiting for an update on Matty Cash’s fitness after he was forced out of Wednesday’s 4-1 defeat to Chelsea with a calf problem.

The right-back was taken off at half-time after complaining of pain and was due to undergo a scan on Thursday.

Villa are currently without back-up right-back Andres Garcia due to injury. Lamare Bogarde replaced Cash off the bench against Chelsea as Unai Emery’s team suffered back-to-back Premier League defeats for just the third time in the last three seasons.
