Friday’s 2-0 loss intensified fears Villa could be overtaken in the race for Champions League football ahead of crunch clashes with rivals Chelsea and Manchester United.

Speaking after the final whistle at Molineux, Morgan Rogers admitted players were starting to feel the strain of a season spent battling near the top of the Premier League.

But Emery is confident his team will not buckle as he urged them to feel excitement, rather than fear, at the challenges ahead.

“It's not pressure,” he said. “These are wishes. It's not pressure.

“Players are playing and they are trying and (it's) not pressure, it's wishes, wishes to be there.

“It's exciting and we must be motivated to keep it. We must be getting the balance in the season.
