Lye Town leave it late for key win as Dudley Town and AFC Wolverhampton City just fall short - round-up

Tyler Smith converted a dramatic last-gasp winner as Lye Town earned a crucial three points against play off-chasing rivals Abbey Hulton United.

The Flyers moved two places to seventh in Midland Premier, level on points with sixth-placed Hulton, with the 2-1 victory.

Elliott Ball opened the scoring for the hosts on 20 minutes but Kieran Brown levelled before the interval.

There was to be late drama as Lye, who had Sam Hall dismissed for a second yellow card with 12 minutes to go, sealed the points with Smith's composed finish from inside the box in stoppage time after a surging run from Alfie Didlock.

Frustrations boiled over as the visitors' Daniel Cocks was dismissed.

Dudley Town were one of the sides Lye jumped above after the Robins had to make do with a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw against second-placed Hanley.

Dudley fought from behind as Luke Postle equalised on half hour and Kyle Moseley headed in with 15 minutes to go with what might have been the winner.

But the Stoke visitors showed grit and climbed back into the clash through Joel Stair to take a share of the spoils.

There was nothing to separate third and fourth as AFC Wolverhampton City were held 1-1 at home by 1874 Northwich.

The Cheshire visitors remain ahead of the Black Country side on goal difference after Liam Fitzpatrick grabbed a leveller 13 minutes from time.

Wolves had led through a 19th-minute Danny Munday header.

Stourport Swifts climbed to 13th with an impressive 4-0 win at basement boys Highgate.

Kai Adams netted in either half with Jake Cooper and Archie Thurston also on target for Swifts.

Tividale dropped to 14th after being edged out 1-0 at home to fifth-placed Coton Green thanks to Ronny Nkuidjeu's winner 10 minutes after the interval. Coton had Kyle Batchelor dismissed late on but held out.

Stone Old Alleynians, in 12th, were edged out 2-1 at leaders Northwich Victoria. Jack Bowater's penalty proved a consolation for the Old Boys.

Substitute Isiah Beaumont netted a dramatic 93rd-minute winner as Bilston Town finally shrugged off dogged AFC Bridgnorth 4-3 in Midland One.

The Shropshire visitors equalised three times including on 90 minutes but Dave King's men edged the win. Jordan Crump netted twice before Beaumont's winner against his former side to leave Bilston eighth.

Gornal Athletic star Taylor Homer netted two second-half goals to earn his side a battling 3-2 win at mid-table Lutterworth.

The Peacocks led through Traevey Wright but were pegged back before the break and needed Homer's cool finish and penalty after the hour to take advantage of leaders Knowle's slip-up. Gornal now trail by just two points.

Cradley Town picked up a crucial win at Nuneaton Griff to move out of the relegation places. Charlie Bache bagged the contest's only goal midway through the second half.

Wednesfield are a place further up and level on points after a 1-1 draw at mid-table Ingles, while Smethwick Rangers, in 15th, were edged out 1-0 by title-chasing Sutton United.

Jordon Sangha netted a late equaliser for Birmingham OJM in a 2-2 draw at Saffron Dynamo. Casey Collins had opened the scoring.

Stafford Town's attempt to stop the rot after three straight defeats earned a point in a 2-2 draw at Barnton in North West Counties First Division South.

Town, who slipped out of the play-off places, trailed to two Toby Humphries goals at half-time but Jayden Bailey-Hunter netted from the penalty spot and an own goal on the hour completed the scoring.

Hellenic Division One promotion-hunters Bewdley Town were without action.
