Leeds dealt winger blow ahead of Aston Villa clash

Leeds have been dealt a blow after winger Noah Okafor was ruled out of Saturday’s trip to Villa with a hamstring injury.

The Switzerland international is facing up to a month on the sidelines with the injury, which he sustained in last weekend’s FA Cup win at Blues.

Okafor, a £17million signing last summer from Milan, has started 15 Premier League matches for Leeds and scored in his last two league appearances, including the equaliser a 2-2 draw at Chelsea earlier this month.

In better news, boss Daniel Farke has seen Anton Stach, Pascal Struijk and Daniel James return to training.

Farke said: “We are in the top two in terms of physical output for every game in the Premier League. We always have to invest more or try to invest more than the opponent and have to go over the line.

“And there are also sometimes a knock or sometimes even whatever stretch of a muscle and you have to deal with it.

“So overall, we are in a more or less really good position. So from the first team players at the moment, just now Okafor is out.”

Leeds enter the weekend 15th in the table, six points clear of the relegation zone but looking to improve an away record which sees them winless in their last 10 Premier League matches since September’s 3-1 win at Wolves.

“We are on a good path. But the fact is I am a realistic person,” said Farke.

“In former years, 30 points would have been enough. I don't expect that this season. There is no reason to be carried away. We have to win many more points - and for that we have to stay with the foot on the gas."
