A former Aston Villa defender who had a short spell at the club has landed a new job in France - a week after being sacked.

Habib Beye, who made his name in English football with Newcastle United - went on to sign for Villa in 2009.

However, he turned out just 18 times for the club before going on to finish his career with Doncaster Rovers.

Beye went on to kick off his managerial career with Red Star in Paris - before landing a job at Rennes.

However, he was sacked last week following a four match winless run.

But it has taken the former Villa man no time at all to get back into management.

He has been appointed as the new manager of Marseille, replacing former Brighton boss Roberti De Zerbi, who parted ways with the club following a 5-0 defeat against PSG and a group stage exit from the Champions League.
