Five goal thrashing means nothing to Norwich boss as former West Brom midfielder could feature in FA Cup due to rule change

Philippe Clement has insisted Norwich's 5-0 win over Albion in the league will have no standing when they go head to head in the FA Cup.

It is only a few weeks since Eric Ramsay's Albion were put the sword by the Canaries in the league - in what was one of the darkest nights in the club's history.

Now the pair are set to go head to head in the FA Cup fourth round - with both taking a break from their battle to survive in the Championship.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference - Norwich boss Clement explained that the five goal thrashing means nothing heading into Saturday, and dropped a hint that he could be ready to make a number of changes.

He said: "The 5-0 win there has no bearing. Totally different game.

"They have changed things, had longer with the new manager so will be more into his direction. It was a really good result there but they had spells where they hurt us. We need to show good quality.

"It is nothing to do with the competition, it is about what the team needs.

"We have to make these decision every three days because players can't play every game.

"We need to manage the loads of the players and in our situation we don't have a squad where we have 22 players who can play all 90 minutes."

Josh Sargent is not likely to come in from the cold after a controversial end to the January transfer window - as he tried to move away from the club.

Clement has said the situation hasn't changed and he is on the sidelines - while a new FA Cup rule means Norwich's former Albion midfielder Sam Field could be in line to feature.

Field has already played for QPR in the FA Cup, but players can now play for two clubs in the competition in the same season.
