The former Liverpool analyst has been at the top of the Hawthorns' wanted list for the position, which is seen a key role in building the future of the club.

Price spent the last two-and-a-half years with Maccabi as their technical director. It is understood Albion are on track with their appointment plans and it is hoped that an announcement is made for the role in the next few weeks.

Prior to moving to Israel, 35-year-old Price was a highly-regarded analyst at Liverpool, where he spent more than a decade.

Albion have been on the hunt for a new technical director for a number of a months, a move that was revealed by former club president and sporting director Andrew Nestor, who left his role last week.

The appointment of a new technical director is not a replacement for the axed Nestor.

Albion, under chairman and owner Shilen Patel, have been aiming to reshape those in charge of the sporting department at The Hawthorns with the appointment of a first technical director since Luke Dowling, who left in 2021 following relegation.

Nestor previously said on appointing a technical director: "The evolution of our sporting department also includes a process that began in September 2025 to recruit a technical director.

"(It is) A newly-formed role within the club who will work alongside sporting leadership focusing on further evolution of the club's game mode, squad planning and balance, academy operations and player pathways, and technology and analysis innovation."

Now, Price has departed his role in Israel, with Maccabi issuing a statement on his departure.

"Maccabi Tel Aviv Football Club thanks Technical Director Dominic Price, who is leaving his position after two and a half successful years at the club," they said.

"Dominic joined Maccabi in the summer of 2023 and played a significant role in the development of the club's professional structure, and was a key factor in implementing a player recruitment and development strategy, during a particularly complex and challenging period.

"Dominic's hard work and professionalism, combined with his humble approach and willingness to embrace the demands of the role, made him a natural fit for the club.

Maccabi owner Mitch Goldhar added: "I thank Dominic for his dedication and commitment. It was a pleasure to work with someone as knowledgeable and present as he was.

"He wasn't always front and centre, but he operated effectively and left his mark. I wish him success in the next chapter of his career. Dominic will always be a part of the Maccabi family."
