Chris Mepham injury timeline revealed as West Brom's defender woes not easing - but Eric Ramsay reveals optimism
Albion's defensive injury woes don't seem to be easing at all - after Eric Ramsay revealed a timeframe on Chris Mepham's absence.
The summer signing has been in and out of the side in recent weeks - and put in a superb defensive display in the draw against Stoke on Saturday.
However, he pulled up with a hamstring injury in the latter stages of the draw and had to come off.
Albion were without him for the draw at Birmingham on Tuesday - with Charlie Taylor again filling in at the heart of the backline.
And Ramsay has confirmed the news that many Albion fans are fearing - with the Baggies having already been without George Campbell and Krystian Bielik.
The latter did return from the bench on Tuesday - but on Mepham, Ramsay explained: "It will be I think probably four weeks at best, five, six weeks at worst, which is a fair outcome I would say, I think it could have been better but it could have been worse so we're okay with that.
"Of course leaves us light across the back line, leaves us with question marks but I think we've now from a league perspective got a chance to breathe for 10, 11 days or so and hopefully we can bring Krystian (Bielik) back to a better point.
"We can get George (Campbell) closer to being involved and we can ease some of those concerns."
Nat Phillips went down with what looked like a head injury - but Ramsay was unable to shed light on whether it will leave the former Liverpool man on the sidelines.
However, when asked about a possible concussion he did outline that it wasn't a concussion substitute.
Ramsay added: "I'm actually not sure, I've not followed that up but he didn't come off with that being a concussion sub so that's perhaps indicative of what it was."
