West Midlands keeping the heat up at the top of UKDA Championship - darts round-up
Promotion-chasing West Midlands have moved into second in the UK Darts Association Championship - just nine points behind the leaders with a game in hand, writes Paul Walters.
West Midlands had an excellent 23-13 victory at Oxfordshire, which the women’s B team set on its way with a 6-0 victory thanks to Hannah Davies, Kelly Aston, Tara Fullwood, Jade Wellings, Kath Jenkins and Shellbie Guest.
The men’s B earned a 6-6 draw, courtesy of Connor Lucas, Kieran O’Mahoney, Dean Fullwood, Martin Price, Sean Craig and Justin Evans winning, while the women’s A team had a great 4-2 victory through Jackie Trott, Evonne Taylor, Gemma Barrett and Jackie Maiden.
The men’s A followed that up with a 7-5 success, with Jon Platt, Shaun Carroll, Ryan O’Connor, Jack Aldridge, Dan Hands, Richard Platt and Jay Woodhouse the West Midlands winners.
Coseley Friday League joint leaders Parkes Hall went down 5-1 to third-placed Hotshots A - Alex Howells, Jamie Hughes, Jack Aldridge, David Martin and Justin Evans doing the damage.
Gornal Legion B went top after a 5-1 success over Gornal Labour thanks to Geoff Marson, Adam Edgar, Ash Marson, Spike Green and Phil Parker, while Allens enjoyed a 5-1 victory over Darlo Cons courtesy of Lee Jordan, Wayne Hobday, Sean Bastable, Nick Whitehouse and Allen Smith.
Leaders Allens A enjoyed a 5-0 success over Soccer Zone A in the Black Country Super League with wins from Rich Bowen, Jack Aldridge, Mark Jones, Shane Price and Ryan O’Connor.
Quarry Bank Libs crushed Bostin 180 Bar 5-0 courtesy of Owen Maiden, John Green, Gav Moreton, George Willetts and Jeff Batham, while High Acres had a 4-1 victory over Ten Arches - Chris Fox, Sam Aitkins, Rob Pierce and Andy Vellander doing the damage.
In the West Midlands Super League, Kings Head got pushed all the way by Samba Social, coming out 3-2 victors thanks to Owen Maiden, Matty Dennant (100.20ave) and Richy Platt.
Dog & Partridge defeated Staffs Knot 3-2 in a game that produced 13 maximums - Dean Fullwood, Wayne Jones and Gavin Baker the Dog winners.
Gilberts A had a 3-2 success over Gilberts B thanks to Simon Mountford, Steve Lynch and Chris Hill.
Wednesfield Sunday League leaders Wednesfield Legion defeated Victoria 5-1 thanks to Ryan Bourne, Conrad Taylor, Dean Fullwood, Sid Bourne and Craig Carey, while Junction kept up the pressure by beating Royal Tiger 5-1 - Phil Mayo, Rich Newey, Mark Curley, Jimmy Handley and Paul Price winning.
Ashmore A crushed Ring Of Bells 6-0 - Troy Simmonds, Sean Griffin, Adam Davis, Jack Newey, Kev Bell and Dan Walton doing the damage.
Dog B kept the pressure on the leaders in the Wolverhampton Tuesday League by beating third-placed Gilberts B 6-1 - Nathan Jones, Woza Brice, Phil Mayo, Paul Lucas, Jo Tschubenko and Rich Newey the victors.
Ashmore won a tight 4-3 battle with Golden Lion B thanks to Connor Lucas, Mark Footman, Sean Griffin and Jack Newey, while Junction C overcame Bradmore Arms 6-1 courtesy of Alfie Stanford, Joe Bartolo, Andy Hallett, Kieran McAllister, Mac James and Scott Lewis.
