Winger Leon Bailey is planning to roll back the clock and rediscover his best form after making his return to Villa.

Bailey was recalled from a season-long loan at Roma last month after Unai Emery’s team were hit by a series of injuries to key players.

Villa boss Emery had initially dismissed the idea of bringing Bailey back just weeks earlier and the Jamaica international admits it has been a long time since supporters saw him at the top of his game.

But he is determined to change that over the second half of the season.

Bailey, who scored only twice in 38 appearances last term, said: “I’m very determined. Last season wasn’t the best and they (the fans) deserve to see back that Leon Bailey who was on fire for them in the 2023/24 season.

“I’m motivated, confident, I feel good – so, it’s only up from here.”

The 28-year-old came off the bench in Premier League matches against Newcastle and Brentford and will be added to the club’s Europa League squad, along with January signings Tammy Abraham and Douglas Luiz.

Bailey failed to score in 11 appearances during an injury-hit spell in Italy but claims to be feeling back at home at Villa Park.

“I’m right back into the system I’m so used to, the style of play,” he said

“Back with the lads I’m so comfortable with as well, it felt good to be back out there on the pitch with them.”
