Riley racks up two centuries in one match

Riley Parsons put in a stunning performance, making two centuries in one match, as he reached the quarter-finals of the Staffordshire & West Midlands Snooker League's Foursomes Handicap.

The breaks came as Parsons and doubles partner Tom Burgess hosted Sam Thompson and Aaron Ashmore, with Parsons equalling the league's highest break of the season as his 125 accounted for frame one.

Thompson made a 49 in the next frame to make the match all square, but Parsons was on fire again in the next frame - making a break of 104, before sealing the match after making a 60 in the next frame to make it 3-1.

Meanwhile, Hotshots look unstoppable at the top of Division One after a whitewash victory over Stafford Institute.

Jamie Brown made an 81 break and Luke Higginbotham a 56 as they won along with Paul Deaville, Callum Downing and Karl Ashmore.

Wednesfield Cons had two opportunities to close the gap, firstly in a rearranged match they defeated Sedgley Ex Service 3-2 with Oliver Spooner's 53 break making the match safe before Andrew Highfield's 65 break in the final frame proving the highest of the match.

Wednesfield also travelled to face a Landywood C side battling to stay in Division One, and for the second night running Spooner made a 53 as Wednesfield won 3-2. Peter Strazzanti also made a 46 break in the match for Landywood C.

Stafford Institute B won their second match of the season as Shifnal War Memorial B succumbed to a 3-2 defeat. Darren Pountney and Steve Holland both made breaks of 40, but Stafford have a mountain to climb to stay in the top flight, being 23 points from safety.

Elsewhere in Division One, Stuart Pritchard made a 53 break for Sedgley WMC as their match headed for a decider at Poets Corner, but Pommy Kang made a 43 break to ensure the home side won 3-2.

Pennfields fell to a 3-2 defeat at home to Hotshots B, Lee Holder made a 30 break to take the match into a deciding frame, but Hasan Hussain responded with a 30 break of his own to win the match for Hotshots B.

Ash Barker defeated professional Liam Pullen as Sedgley Ex Service beat Landywood B 3-2, with Andrew Highfield winning the decider for Sedgley on the final black.
